How Do You Manage the Increasing Tension Between Work and Home When Nothing is the Same and There is No Normal?
Introduction to Episode:
This is not the first time we have discussed this chronic tension or polarity.
But work and home balance has a whole new meaning during this COVID19 pandemic.
Society has experienced huge shifts in the workforce leaving the office/organization and working from home to “flatten the curve”.
As healthcare leaders, some of you are working longer hours and shifting work/home placement with other leaders to assure continuity.
The stressors at work and at home have changed dramatically and in unprecedented ways.
The tension between work and home has escalated as the boundaries and rules at work and at home have shifted dramatically.
During this episode we discuss:
· The importance of being highly vigilant in monitoring the tension
· Throwing “perfect” out the window
· Action steps to increase positive outcomes at work and home
· Strategies for working at home
· Identifying one key action that you can leverage to support both work and home
· Reflecting on the “new normal”
· Capturing your experience and what you’re learning through journaling
Teaching Points:
· Managing work and home is not an either/or choice and never will be
· Equal importance for both work and home even during unprecedented times
· Stay present to NOW (the present moment)
